The Helio-Terra reflects the agricultural influence of the Palouse. It is constructed entirely of stabilized rammed earth. The seed shape is indented with vertical grooves that align with the solar solstices and equinoxes. Designed by the artist Robert M. Horner, it will provide a seasonal solar clock that is specific to the site in Moscow, ID. It juxtaposes a crisp curved shape with a tooled texture that is almost identical to that of the surrounding hills of farmland worked by industrial farming equipment.
